Halle Berry is probably best known as one of the highest paid actress in Hollywood as well as a fashion model and previous to that a beauty pageant contestant.
Many are suprised to know she also has type 1 diabetes.
Berry’s acting career has allowed her to don many different roles including ‘Catwoman’ and Bond girl Giacinta ‘Jinx’ Johnson. Her award winning acting career is evidence enough that having diabetes does not have to hold you back.
It was during the taping of the television series ‘Living Dolls’ in 1989 that Halle Berry lapsed into a diabetic coma. Shortly afterwards she was diagnosed with diabetes mellitus type 1.
“Shooting” Insulin
Since her diagnosis of insulin dependent diabetes, Halle Berry has been determined not to allow her condition to interfere with her life, though she has often been reported to express the inconvenience of the condition saying it has been known to interrupt meetings due to having to ‘shoot up ‘ with insulin at inopportune times.
It has often been noted that her persevering and accepting attitude of ‘that’s just life’ has allowed her to continue to do everything she would have done if she hadn’t been diagnosed with diabetes.
Halle Berry is reportedly an active volunteer for the Juvenile Diabetes Association charity in the United States.
