Doctors could use diabetes test to diagnose

According to diabetes news reports, doctors could start using a diabetes test that monitors blood glucose as a diagnostic tool for people at an early stage of the condition.
The A1c test is likely to be recommended as a diagnostic tool by a variety of leading diabetes health organisation. The test will be used to diagnose type 2 diabetes, according to the American Diabetes Association.
Director of information resources, Matt Peterse, reportedly commented: “Right now there are no criteria for A1C use in diagnosing diabetes, but we know it is being used in practices this way.”
The test, also called the HbA1c test or glycated haemoglobin test, helps show what the average blood glucose level is over a 2 or 3 month period prior to testing. The test can also indicate the chance of future diabetes complications .
