Diabetes death mistaken for hangover

This week, a London hospital came under fire after it was reported that a 26-year-old woman with diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) died because her symptoms were mistaken for a hangover.

Phillippa Odlin’s death could easily have been avoided as she managed to get to A&E. But the hospital provided seriously inadequate care and discharged her without treatment.

"I have had diabetes for 13 years and followed a diet set out by my NHS diabetes centre, which didn't make a difference to my blood glucose or HbA1c. Since joining the Low Carb Program my HbA1c is at its best in 10 years! Furthermore, my average blood glucose has dropped from around 9mmol/l to 5.6, and my insulin dosage has now been reduced. I’ve lost nearly 2 stone and feel so much better for it!"
