199,000 forum members + device that measures glucose from sweat

This week, we are celebrating reaching the milestone of reaching 199,000 members on the Diabetes Forum!

Forum users have shown that talking to one another has the power to improve health. A 2016 survey shows that 77% of forum members improved their understanding of diabetes within 6 months. Got a question? Ask it here.

You're making a difference to your own health and another 199,000 people just by being part of the community.

This week has also seen some significant diabetes developments, including an ultrasensitive lab-on-a-chip device that can measure glucose in a drop of sweat. This device, which is cheap to develop, could help with earlier diagnosis and prevention of diabetes. There is currently no word on when the sensor is set to be released to market.

This is similar to the disposable sweat patch that we reported on last September, that could also calculate the amount of glucose in the blood.

Meanwhile, a discovery has been made which finds that nerve damage could precede diabetic retinopathy in people with diabetes, changing the way researchers view the condition.

Trending this week is the post on 9 things most people don't know about diabetes. Are any of them news to you?

There is a lot going on this month. We're working on improving the Low Carb Program - which has 110,049 members! The results are fantastic and we want to improve on them.

The blood glucose meter evaluation tool is going strong, too. We want to bring people together so we can all make better decisions, together. Get involved and get rating.

Enjoy the sunshine!

PS. Indian Gooseberry - daft...or what? - seen some intriguing allegations regarding the ability of this fruit to control/influence BS levels - anybody got any direct experience?
