Largest healthcare fraud in history
Within the last week two large drug makers have made the news for covering up and withholding research relating to increased heart risks. GSK fined GBP1.9bn for illegal drug marketing GlaxoSmithKline have been fined $3 billion after pleading guilty to hiding data and making unsupported claims about their drug Avandia and illegally marketing other non-diabetes drugs. The cover up has been dubbed 'the largest healthcare fraud in history'. Makers of Byetta + Bydureon warned over drug info GSK are not only pharmaceutical firm to receive bad press. Amylin, the company which makes the diabetes drugs Byetta and Bydrureon made headlines last week after withholding data on heart safety risks of Bydureon. What are your thoughts?
