Sunshine, cool insulin + transplants
After a long wait, Britons are
finally enjoying some hot
summer weather.
But for those of us with diabetes, high temperatures can affect
blood sugar control, putting
some of us
at increased risk of both hyperglycemia and hypogylcemia.
There are certain precautions we should take to ensure our blood sugar levels don’t spiral out of control in the summer heat, and these are detailed in our guide on hot weather and diabetes.
To make the most of the sun, it's best to be aware of any specific safety measures you may need to take for your diabetes.
These include looking after your feet and eyes and limiting sun exposure if you're on certain tablets.
If you’re struggling to manage your diabetes in the heat, check out the Diabetes Forum to see how other people with diabetes are coping.
