Unorthodox diabetes management + citrus fruit benefits

There are many things other than doctor visits, medication and diet that can help control and improve diabetes control.

Tuesday marked the 25th anniversary of the internet – a day known as ‘Internaut Day’ – and the internet has proved extremely useful in helping people with their diabetes management. This newsletter, for example.

To celebrate the spirit of Internaut Day, we covered the key milestones of the internet and diabetes, and how things have changed for the better.

We also reported on a somewhat strange management tip this week: did you know that having a hot bath could people help with type 2 diabetes improve their blood glucose levels?

This is according to a Leicester and Loughborough research team who claim that taking a bath can reduce blood sugar levels by 10 per cent.

A similarly surprising piece of research was the suggestion that being friends with thin people could make people more likely to lose weight.

This isn’t, of course, at the expense of eating a healthy diet and getting regular exercise. But the study offers a fascinating new insight into another factor that could help achieve weight loss.
