Ingredients
To make Spicy Cabbage with Mustard Seeds, you'll need:
  • 2 tsp. black mustard seeds
  • 3 tsp. ginger, sinely chopped
  • 2 tsp. garlic
  • 2 red chillies, deseeded
  • 3 tbsp. sunflower oil
  • 1 medium onion
  • 300g cabbage, grated

Method

  • Pop the ginger, garlic and red chillies in a blender with 6 tablespoons of water and whizz into a paste. Then, place aside.
  • In a large non stick frying pan on a medium heat, heat the oil and throw in the onion. Fry the onion for 3-4 minutes until it turns a golden brown.
  • Next, add in the cabbage and stiry fry for 3 minutes, along with the ginger/garlic/chilli paste.
  • Add 5 tablespoons of water and cook uncovered for 3-4 minutes until the cabbage is cooked.
  • Pour the remaining tablespoon of oil in a separate frying pan, along with the mustard seeds. Once you hear crackling, pour the oil and seeds onto the cabbage.
  • Mix thoroughly and serve hot as a side dish, a great accompaniment with any meat or vegetable main curry!
