  • 1. Rinse beans well
  • (beans do not have to be soaked before cooking) Place beans and onion in a large pot with the water
  • Cover and simmer over low heat for at least 3 1/2 to 4 hours ( alternatively over night in a crockpot) Add the salt when the beans are done cooking.
